Watching your children play a sport and enjoy themselves as much as they do, AND on top of that, they show signs of talent and skill and teamwork and sportsmanship that makes you feel proud as a father.
My wife, Sister Shotgun (ret), of the Banger Sisters launched our family into roller derby and we've embraced it from the beginning. To see my girls gain self-confidence and show athleticism in a relatively young sport is amazing.
I am so proud of my daughters for what they've shown me thus far and on March 27th, they will have their first official bout (scores and penalites and all) in front of a crowd that may exceed 600 members is jawdropping amazing to me.
I cannot wait to share photos of the event with you all.
Cheers!

Our annual tradion of home portraits.
Celia is 10 1/2 and Ruby is almost 5
Sometimes all you need is a smile to make everything ok.
I love it when we go sledding. Boxing Day was a beautiful day, 26 and cloudy but now wind. The Christmas snowstorm left a nice combination of fluffy snow and a smooth glazed crust. perfect for going fast.
Ruby wasn't as adventurous as we though she'd be but Celia a/k/a CeCe Rider wasn't afraid to bomb the hills.
CeCe Rider loves going fast and loves wiping out too
In this photo she was about 3 feet off the ground but the wipeout didn't deter her from finding the quickest route down the hill.
On her final run, she ended up in such a wipeout that both her boots came off. And she was all smiles.
It was definitely a fun time!
Cheers
Celia got her first basketball this past weekend.
It was her Grandpa Mert's idea since she's almost 5 feet tall at 10 years old.
So, for $8 we bought her a leather ball and I took her out to the driveway and gave her some basics. She was reluctant at first and after a few baskets she fell in love with it.
Her first free throw attempt (EVER) was a swish. That was fun to watch.
Grandpa even said that he was really impressed how good she was even though she'd never picked up a basketball before.
The cool thing is, is that her cousin Lauren is also very tall and has a good high school career. So she's got a very good role model to follow.
Good times!
Cheers~
